The Kern County Sheriff’s Department Glennville Search and Rescue was formed in June of 2008, combining numerous resources (4x4 trucks, ATVs, horses and ground pounders) into a single unit. This enables the Sheriff’s department to immediately select  and deploy on the scene the most efficient resource to be used in a search.

We are dedicated to the search for and rescue of lost and/or injured persons. We only respond to an official request through the Kern County Sheriff's Department. We shall not self-deploy.

Our organization is made up of volunteers trained in the latest ground search techniques and will encourage any individual willing to expand his or her knowledge in the arena of SAR, such as Mounted Patrol, 4x4, OHV, Man Tracking, Technical/ Ropes, etc.

Next Meeting: TBA

Held at the Glennville Rodeo Ground. Call 343-1740

Inaugural meeting was a huge success!

first picture meeting

Our first meeting had over 50 people in attendance with 42 people requesting background applications packets. Lieutenant Barker, Sergeant Baldwin and Senior Deputy King from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department explained background application process and answered questions regarding the  Search and Rescue Policies and Procedures. We are actively seeking new members, and you do not have to live in the Glenville area to join.

A special thanks goes to the Bakersfield Californian for publishing Jason Kotowski’s article announcing that new search and rescue team was forming in Glennville.

Now accepting new members

Do you have either a 4x4 vehicle, ATV, horse or like to hike? Do you want to make a difference and help others in their time of need? We want you!  We are currently accepting new members, and processing background applications.  Open to all, and living in the Glennville area is not a requirement.  We have members that live in Bakersfield, Glennville, Tehachapi, Woody, Posey and Porterville.

As a KCSD civilian volunteer, you must be 18 years of age, and submit and pass a complete background investigation, drug test, polygraph questionnaire and medical physical.
